The Dalai Lama and Ronald McDonald …..

From a very young age Willard Scott was captivated by the sound of laughter. He decided that making people smile was what he wanted to do when he grew up.

Scott took every opportunity that came along, starting as an errand boy at his local radio station, presenting the weather on TV dressed as a clown, and creating the character Ronald McDonald.

Now a spritely 81 year old, Scott is still a guest presenter for NBC in Florida.

Asked how he always keeps himself so positive, Scott replied, “The Dalai Lama said that positive feelings start when you have a positive vision. I couldn’t agree more. In over 70 years of being a student of smiling, I’ve found that once you’re absolutely clear on why you’re on this beautiful planet and where you’re heading, getting there becomes a whole lot easier. When you’re expressing your true nature, who you really are, your energy, enthusiasm and inspired action will attract the relationships and results that you want.”

I’m reminded of Oscar Wilde who said, “Life is too important to be taken seriously,” but I’ll leave the last word to Willard Scott whose has a habit of saying,

“A smile has two main properties.

  1. It’s a curve which sets things straight and
  2. Its the shortest distance between two people.”

Which brings me nicely on to this week’s humour …..

At a wedding reception I attended recently the DJ said, “Would all the married ladies please stand next to the person who has made their life worth living. It’s time for our first slow dance.”

The barman was nearly crushed to death.

And finally …. some award winning one-liners from Stewart Francis (6 min video)

Have a great week.
