The 5 Most Frequent Questions I Am Asked About Linkedin

January 21, 2013 |  by  |  Linkedin Blog

1. Why should I be on LinkedIn?

To sell your products, services and to make top level connections with new business decision makers.

Linkedin is the world’s most professional and powerful online business-networking organisation.

Fast approaching over 200 million business interested connections world-wide, it is the most fertile and overstocked ‘business hunting ground’ on the planet.

But it’s no good entering the ‘business hunting ground’ with 200 million other hunters, unless you have distinct business advantages to set you apart from the other 200 million business people.

2. I’m on Linkedin, now what do I do?

The real secret to leveraging Linkedin for business growth and increased sales of products and services is, ‘you have to be found.’ You need to be found easily and super fast.

Linkedin anticipates over 5 billion searches will be conducted on its platform during 2012. Linkedin searches are increasing year on year with wildfire proportions.

If you can’t be found super fast in the Linkedin ‘Advanced Search’ facility then your competitors have significant competitive business growth advantages over you.

3. How do I get more business connections?

A] Display a Killer Linkedin profile.
B] Adopt a business hunter’s mind-set.
C] Design your own Linkedin growth marketing strategy plan and invest enough time to ensure you stick to it.
D] Join your industry and personal interest specific groups, and adopt a proactive role in posting questions, discussions and polls.
E] Adopt the 90% – 10% principle. This means you should give 90% of your time, effort and enthusiasm to helping other Linkedin members with a 10% expectation of return.
F] Attend a professional one or two day Linkedin training programme.

4. How do I get decision makers to want to connect with me?

This is one of the most elusive Linkedin secrets, and yet it’s crucial to increasing your business growth. There is infinitely more value in connecting with decision makers if they have hunted and targeted you, and not vice versa.
The solution is so simple. Be number one on Linkedin in your industry sector/s in the Linkedin ‘Advanced Search’ facility.

How do you achieve that?

Two ways.

A] Spend lots of time, effort, energy and finance to learn the top down & bottom up dynamics of the platform. Think of this as your Linkedin apprenticeship. Like any other professional apprenticeship this typically takes several years to master.

B] Retain a LinkedIn expert to power drive you up to the number one ‘Advanced Search’ position on the Linkedin platform and position you to gain maximum business growth and sales opportunities.
It’s estimated that approximately 57% of people on LinkedIn are senior business decision makers. You are far more likely to attract these people if you are highly ‘Advanced Search’ ranked in your industry sector/s.

Business social media networking is an organic ever changing marketing strategy for business growth. If you can’t manage it yourself, then hire in Linkedin experts to manage it for you.

5. Why won’t you connect with me?

Fortunately for me, but perhaps unfortunately for you, I have reached the maximum number of 30,000 permissible Linkedin connections. This limit is strictly enforced by Linkedin.
One of the reasons I include the ‘30,000 Connections’ description in the top of my LinkedIn profile is so that other people realise that I am unable to accept new connections.
Despite this, I receive a minimum of 50 new invitations to connect with people every single day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

My Linkedin In-Box is overflowing with several thousand new invitations from people wanting to connect with people.

Unless you provide me with an absolutely compelling reason for why I should drop someone from my connections list to add you, I just can’t consider it.
You are very welcome to join my Linkedin Black Belt POWER Networkers group on Linkedin. Or you can connect with me via my web site at: which also lists lots of free tips for growing your Linkedin connections and for increasing your business growth from Linkedin.

Once you understand the real potential of Linkedin for business growth, and you take positive marketing action to increase sales of your products and services, you will be astounded at the huge number of new leads, referrals and business opportunities just waiting for a proactive business hunter to grab.
Happy Business Hunting.
