Usain Bolt turned on an overly zealous journalist chasing him off the track in Moscow, prior to this week’s World Championships.

“Is talking to you going to make me run any faster?” asked the world’s fastest man.

The journalist shook his head and skulked away, suitably chastened.

It’s all too easy to get down to busyness rather than business: counter-productive conversations, routines and habits which have little or no impact on what we want to achieve.

A great daily schedule will produce great results because, as leadership guru Robin Sharma says, “What gets scheduled gets done.”

In order to get the results that champions do, do what matters most every week, every day and every hour.

A very powerful exercise is to ask yourself every 60 minutes, “What’s the most valuable thing for me to do right now?”


Before going to bed a man asked the hotel receptionist for a wake-up call. The next morning she phoned and said, “What are you doing with your life?”

As the bride and groom were about to spend their first night together, they got undressed together for the first time (it was an arranged Indian marriage!).

The man took off his shoes and socks. His toes were all twisted and discoloured.

“What happened to your feet?” his wife asked.

“I had a childhood disease called Tolio.”

“Don’t you mean polio?”

“No, tolio, it only affects the toes.”

The man then removed his pants and revealed an awful looking pair of knees.

“What happened to your knees?” she asked.

“Well, I also had Kneesles.”

“Don’t you mean measles?”

“No, kneesles, it only affects the knees.”

When he removed his shorts, his wife gasped and said, “Don’t tell me, you also had Smallcox!”
