My Name Is Mark and Apparently I’m a Linkedin Addict

April 30, 2013 |  by  |  Linkedin Blog

My name is Mark and I’m an addict!

There you go, I’ve said it.

I’ve been informed that the first step in any addiction recovery programme is to publically admit your addiction.

However, I don’t need a recovery programme, because my addiction is a fantastic positive addiction.

Excited Man

One which I genuinely manage without any nasty side effects.

I’m classed as a professional Independent Linkedin Addict and Linkedin informed me recently I’m in the one percentile of Linkedin’s 200 million plus business members.

Why?

First: Because I utilise LinkedIn for several hours every day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, to help my clients leverage business growth from Linkedin’s 200 million business members.

Second: Because Quantcast* breaks down visitor traffic of LinkedIn networkers into three categories:

Passers By:  users who visit a site or interact with media once per month. The 66% of LinkedIn ‘Passers By’ account for 24% of visits to the LinkedIn web site.

Regulars: those who visit a site or interact with media more than once but less than 30 times per month. The 33% of LinkedIn ‘Regulars’ account for 51% of visits to the LinkedIn web site.

Addicts: those that interact with a site 30 or more times per month. The 1% of LinkedIn ‘Addicts’ account for 25% of visits to the LinkedIn web site.

I’m a Connector/Addict. Which type/S are you?

* Quantcast is used by 9 of the top 10 media agencies because they quite accurately quantify Internet

What Type Of Business Networker Are You?

  1. Connector
  2. Mavern
  3. Salesperson
  4. Alpha Hunter
  5. Laggard

Connector. Connectors have one foot in so many different business sectors; they have the effect of bringing them all together.

Maven. Maven is a Yiddish word which means one who accumulates knowledge. They help to solve other people’s problems. Once a Maven finds out how to get a deal, they want to tell you about it too.

Salesperson. On some level they cannot be resisted. They can generally build a level of trust & rapport in 5 minutes that most business networkers take half an hour or more to do.

Alpha Hunter. Generally an open or power networker who is comfortable and skilled at researching, identifying and connecting with large numbers of other proactive business networkers.

Laggard. Generally a closed or guarded old school networker. Laggards prefer to only connect with business people they already know. Extending their business network to include people not personally known to them takes them out of their comfort zone.

Quantcast* breaks down visitor traffic of LinkedIn networkers into three further categories:

Passers By:  users who visit a site or interact with media once per month. The 66% of LinkedIn ‘Passers By’ account for 24% of visits to the LinkedIn web site.

Regulars: those who visit a site or interact with media more than once but less than 30 times per month. The 33% of LinkedIn ‘Regulars’ account for 51% of visits to the LinkedIn web site.

Addicts: those that interact with a site 30 or more times per month. The 1% of LinkedIn ‘Addicts’ account for 25% of visits to the LinkedIn web site.
