LinkedIn Training Merseyside – Singing For Our Businesses!

August 26, 2015 |  by  |  Business, Consultancy, Linkedin Blog, News

There are over 200 Business Development Districts in the United Kingdom and this number just keeps on increasing each month. However, July was Birkenhead’s time to utilise the Business Development District scheme with the aid of local businesses. Similarly LinkedIn Training Merseyside supports all local businesses and their attempts to retain clients and gain that successful business growth that they strive towards.

LinkedIn Training Merseyside and BID can support your business!

What is a Business Improvement District?

The Business Improvement District (BID) is simply a scheme in which businesses within the area (in this case Birkenhead) work together to fund local initiatives and improvements which greatly outweigh that which is already provided by the local authorities. The BID lasts for a 5 year term, funded by the local businesses in the DID Levy. These funds are used to benefit the businesses by improving the district while also increasing awareness of those businesses and sectors involved.

What makes this different from the services provided by the local councils?

Well anything that is already funded by the local council does not receive further funding from the levy. Instead the fund supports the businesses and the local professional community in a new way. There have been several funding cuts to local authorities therefore this BID ensures that local business gain the support they need.  The Business Improvement District scheme is an initiative developed by businesses for businesses. Therefore they have full control and judgement over what projects, events and initiatives the BID actually supports.

Just what has the Birkenhead BID done?

June 2015 saw the start of the Birkenhead Bid and the improvement within the local professional area. Within the first week the businesses surrounding the Charing Cross area of Birkenhead and the local roads ran a clean-up campaign to rid the area of unsightly rubbish and graffiti. By clearing the streets of all the waste and even over-grown shrubs and plants the Birkenhead professional business area looks a lot more presentable for those businesses and potential clients/investors.

So it’s all just cleaning up the streets?

No, far from it. In fact one huge campaign ran through the Birkenhead BID has been a real entertaining community affair. Bringing businesses out into one of Birkenhead’s finest assets: Hamilton Square. Businesses have always felt that this asset is underused because it does not always feel safe. The BID wants to bring life back to the town square and they did this through the amazing Summer Sessions.

Summer Sessions from BID

The four Friday’s of July saw Hamilton Square playing host to a wonderful event; a laid back acoustic performance by some of the area’s finest musicians. Every lunchtime (12-2pm) saw Hamilton Square coming alive with wonderful music and business, professionals and the general public all coming together to share and enjoy their lunch. The BID funded a police patrol every weekday over the lunch period to bring life and joy back to the square. What was once an unused space, is now actively used and enjoyed thanks to Birkenhead BID and the local businesses.

Is it all over?

Goodness no! While the Summer Sessions only have one more Friday acoustic event this Friday 31st July, which features Gary Murphy and his fantastic musical skills. It does not mean the entire BID is over for Birkenhead and its businesses. With enough support the Summer Sessions can become an annual event, along with everything else that the Birkenhead Bid promises to deliver.

So local businesses, support the BID and make Birkenhead a proud professional place. Enjoy the last week of Summer Sessions but also the increased safety and security that comes with this wonderful scheme.

Make your local business area proud by developing your own Business Development District scheme. If we don’t support our professionals and businesses, who will?

With some Linkedin Merseyside Training and this Business Development District the professional world can be unstoppable. Don’t miss your chance to enjoy the festivities and learn about how businesses, LinkedIn Training Merseyside and BID can support your company.
