Your profile needs to contain as much professional information about you as possible. Set up a company page alongside your personal profile, and gather an audience on it. Join groups on LinkedIn to be a part of a small community of people you want to make business connections with or who are your target audience. There are many groups on LinkedIn, so you’re likely to find one that suits your needs, but if you don’t then you can always create one. Groups provide you with the chance to reach and connect to a lot more people easily. You can connect to people in the same group as you without the need for contact details, so interact with the group by posting in it and engage in group discussions. Your number of contacts and contact requests will go up easily and quickly this way.

You can always ask to ‘get introduced’ to the mutual connections you have with your connections. You also appear higher on searches if you have more mutual connections with the searcher. So, the larger your network, the more likely you are to get even more connections in the right area. You can also use the advanced search feature to find people using search terms such as job title, company name, location, industry and education.
