LinkedIn Changing The Future Of Business

However few will understand just how much of an impact Linkedin is having on changing the way new generational business careers are being forged.

My name is Dr. Mark D. Yates and I run a UK business growth consultancy company Link Business Marketing, which helps business owners grow their businesses.

To avoid any confusion, we are an Independent Linkedin business growth consultancy group, with no association to the Linkedin Corporation.

95% of our global clients run niche sector businesses, and we focus on leveraging Linkedin’s regional, national and International growth markets for our clients.

We identified that irrespective of where your business is geographically located, or how niche your business is, everything and everyone you need to grow a profitable sustainable business exists on Linkedin. Most business owners just require specialist help and support to learn how to leverage this phenomenal business social media platform.

To enhance our service offering, we had to take a completely new look at how to structure our business model, our business consultancy staff training, and continuous professional development.

Few can dispute the professionalism of Linkedin, which has been fuelled by a corporate growth of wild fire proportions. However 11 years ago the founding members probably didn’t have the forward vision to realise that Linkedin would not only change the way of conducting global business, but also that they would create an entirely new job sector.

After forming my company I searched high and low for skilled business social media consultants in the United Kingdom and overseas. I needed highly skilled business social media consultants to support the business growth service delivery provided by our business growth consultants.

I contacted recruitment agencies, University and College HR managers, but to no avail. It appeared no business or academic organisations were actually training the next generation of online business social media specialist consultants in the United Kingdom, Europe, The Middle East or Africa.

And yet every organisational head I spoke to informed me they were lagging behind as they all recognised business social media as a huge growth sector for the next 10 years.

Eventually I contacted a local UK University who referred me to the UK’s national apprenticeship service. They introduced me to the Pearson Group, a USA business and academic training certification organisation operating world-wide with a large office HQ and staff presence in the UK.

The best advice from all concerned was to start investing in our businesses future by creating actual new apprenticeships in-house and directly linking them to business social media, with a heavy emphasis on Linkedin.

We currently have six apprentices who are being taught everything about Linkedin and also how to incorporate these skill sets into business growth consultancy. Half of these apprentices are coming to the end of their first year apprenticeship and I’m proud to say they are all fantastic valuable members of our business growth consultancy team.

It’s amazing to know that these technology savvy apprentices are bridging the gap between our much older business growth consultants.

Universities, colleges and other organisations are now contacting me to set up a business social media college of excellence to develop further social and digital media apprenticeships throughout the United Kingdom and Europe, as they all recognise this is a future proof career.

Is this another world-wide first success?

Many of our business clients requested some form of approved Linkedin training that would qualify for continuous professional development credits, to enable them to remain ‘certification current’ in their specific job sector.

In Europe many professionals have to maintain certified continuous professional development every year to retain their professional licence to practice. For example legal, financial services and accountancy sector personnel.

The problem was that we couldn’t find any certified or accredited Linkedin training programmes to help our clients. So we decided to invest in producing our own ‘independent’ Linkedin business growth training programme. It consists of six ‘Independent’ Linkedin business growth training module programmes.

Given that our clients are global and that LinkedIn is a true global platform, we wanted to ensure that the accreditation awarding body delivered a diploma that was regognised world-wide. Our research identified the Pearson Group in the USA, UK and many other countries as the most relevant and most professional training accreditation awarding body. (In the UK & some other countries Pearson deliver the EDEXEL-BTEC Diploma Accreditations. )

After 12 months hard development slog, our online LinkedIn business growth training programme received official academic accreditation in late November 2014 by the Pearson Group.

Our training programme will be launched in January 2015. Schools, Colleges, Universities and business owners world-wide will be able to deliver certified ‘Independent’ Linkedin business social media training programmes with a heavy emphasis on Linkedin through their curriculum.

It’s worth mentioning that prior to joining our company, all of our existing apprentices had been out of work for some time, and in fact for some of them this was their very first job.

This is consistent throughout the UK as many youngsters struggle to find a career that resonates with their current online interests.

Our plan is to recruit many more apprentices, young and old and train them for a future proof contemporary career.

Indirectly the huge success of Linkedin has led to the creation of an entirely new job title and business sector within the global consultancy industry, i.e. ‘Business Social Media Executive’.

Linkedin has, and continues to indirectly create new jobs which are long term sustainable jobs, with very real long term career advancement potential and I personally applaud the Linkedin group for this.

These jobs are presenting a new generation of job seekers with a career that provides real income for these apprentices, which ultimately leads to long term financial security and stability as they plan their future family lives.

As we languish in one of the world’s longest economic downturns, it’s difficult for young people to find a future proof career that provides them with ‘mission specific training’ and excellent continuous professional development and financial security.

The outlook for new apprentice job seekers is very good. However it’s worth mentioning that none of this would have been possible without the outstanding Linkedin platform and its dynamic and outstanding business management and administration teams.
