A reality cheque …..

Cast your mind back to the last time that you did a jigsaw puzzle? Did you use the picture on the box to help you?

It’s very difficult to complete a jigsaw without looking at a picture, just as it’s very difficult to be successful if you don’t have a clear vision.

The mist of ambiguity never obscures the outlook of Olympic champions, revered artists and the world’s most successful entrepreneurs. The Branson’s, Botticelli’s and Buffet’s of this world have a clarity of vision and purpose which fuels their fire, and overcomes obstacles. Visionaries like these realize that the presence of dark rain clouds can’t deny the magnificence of a starry sky.

In a recent interview, Sir Richard Branson told a story of two shoe salesmen who were sent to Africa to see if there was a market for their products.

The first salesman reported back, “This is a terrible business opportunity, no-one wears shoes.”

The second salesman reported back, “This is a fantastic business opportunity, no-one wears shoes.”

When Michelangelo was asked how he had carved the beautiful statue David, he replied, “It’s easy. You just chip away the stone that doesn’t look like David.”

Down the centuries, countless luminaries and sages have taught that fate tends to take a backseat in the presence of clarity, and that clarity is a catalyst for the conscious creation of the journey ahead.

So what does your future hold? What can you see? Is it time to take a reality cheque and upgrade your vision?

Ps. If you need a little help in clarifying what you were born to do, you can download a free copy of my good friend Steve Olsher’s excellent New York Times bestseller, What is your What (click on link) ….. thanks Steve!

“Don’t you mean a Chicken Tikka?” asks the waiter.
“No” says the man, “it’s like a Chicken Tikka, but Otter.”
