How to use the LinkedIn Profile Views Ranking Feature to Drive your Brand

LinkedIn recently added a new feature to help you make the most of your LinkedIn profile. LinkedIn now ranks you against your 1st level connections based on the number of profile views you get. It works like a massive league table. Those at the top have the most profile views and those at the bottom have the least.

LinkedIn will tell you exactly where you rank. For example, you might rank #40 out of your #100 connections. They then tell you that you’re in the top 50% out of all your connections. LinkedIn also tells you how you’ve moved in the rankings. Your rank might have increased by 30% in the last 30 days. LinkedIn tells you all of this at the push of a button.

You’re also ranked in a separate league table against those in your company. LinkedIn will give you the same stats as mentioned above but you’ll only be compared to those at your business. You might have the #1 viewed profile on LinkedIn out of those at the business you work for!

Tough Talk

You’d be foolish to not use this valuable information to help you grow your LinkedIn profile. These aren’t just interesting stats for your enjoyment. LinkedIn is giving you free information to assist you.

You should set yourself weekly and monthly aims. You should look to try and increase your profile ranks by a certain number or percentage every week. Maybe you should aim to move up 50 places or 5%. Maybe by the end of the month you want to be in the top 20%. Set yourself a goal, set it high and achieve it.

Tool Tip

To move up the ranking you NEED profile views. The best way to achieve this is by viewing other people’s profiles. Quite often somebody who receives a profile view will return the favour. They’ll be curious who you are and check out your profile too. The more you do this the more views you should earn, especially if you stick to viewing active LinkedIn member’s profiles.

Be careful though, viewing too many LinkedIn profiles in a short space of time can see you earn a restriction. Usually a high volume of viewings is require but be sure to stay safe all the same. Profile views are worthless when your account is restricted.
