I bet you are wondering what Pay-Per-Click (PPC) is, right? Well, it is a type of marketing campaign used on the internet, mainly through search engines and social media.

What it does? You can use PPC to either increase likelihood your page will appear first in search results, or simply just place an advertisement banner onto a website for it to be clicked.

There are 2 types of PPC:

  • Flat rate: The advertiser pays the host a fixed price for their advert to appear on their website or search engine results.
  • Bid-Based rates: The advertiser signs a contract with the host to compete against others in a private auction hosted by the publisher/online network. Usually automated, the advertiser is required to tell the publisher/host the maximum amount they’re willing to pay.

 

There are 2 methods of PPC can be implement which dictates when and how the advertiser pays the host; this is either 1,000 appearances (the advert just appears on the screen) or simply every time the advert is clicked. The Per Click is more reliable since only interested people are likely to click on the advert.

Top LinkedIn Tip:

I’d recommend using the Per-Click method of PPC, because then you will not be charged a penny until your ad is actually clicked!
