60 Seconds Linkedin Expert Tough Talk – LinkedIn Training: How to Follow LinkedIn members

April 9, 2015 |  by  |  60 Seconds, Linkedin Blog

One of LinkedIn’s little known features is the ability to follow members and keep up to date with their activity, without formerly connecting to them.

While you can follow a user by clicking the follow button next to posts on your LinkedIn homepage, following a specific a user is a somewhat convoluted process.

To follow a LinkedIn member you will need to first view their profile, click the dropdown box located next to the “connect” button and visit the recent activity page. Once on this page you will find the yellow follow button at the top right of the screen.

Following a LinkedIn user will enable you to receive notifications on your homepage about their LinkedIn activity, including updates and posts they publish in addition to when they comment or like content.

Overall following users on LinkedIn is a great way to glean insights from the activity of specialists and thought leaders in industry’s and sectors that are of relevance to you.

Tough Talk:

While following users is a useful tool, it’s important to note that you don’t receive all the notifications you would from being connected to them, for instance you will not be notified when they change job role or have a work anniversary.
